8 DEC - 1:30PM - THAI DANCING
In an apparent 'face-saving' exercise, all Australians were invited to participate in Thai Dancing, in front of the primary school assembly. The kids found it very entertaining. (Dancing is a girl thing in Thailand). We think Craig was the favourite - although Cathy had taken great trouble to teach everyone Julian's name, so they took great delight in calling it out during this time. ('Koon Julian!')
Reflections on the School Visit:
Ben:
"The hilight of the school visit was the excitement of the interaction with the kids from a different culture and the kids' excitement at interacting with us. The best and worst thing was struggling to communicate with the kids. Hi Mum and Dad."
Dave S:
"Seeing a bunch of tiny little Thai boys getting excited about a game they'd never played before called rugby and trying to push each other over in a scrum".
Jono G:
"Great opportunity to put Jesus back into Christmas and rugby back into Thailand."
Deb Chen
"Reckon there are a few: (1) seeing the team members jumping in and giving everything a go and giving it their all - even if it meant making a noise like a Kookaburra. (2) As we were only there for a couple of days it was awesome to have girls come up and ask for an email address - obviously treasuring us (3) them wanting to drag you along and play games with them and be part of their life"
Lauren
"Really spending time with the students and communicating with them in Thai, sign language, dancing, sport and building relationships with them was really special."
Craig:
"The hilight of the school visit was seeing the Thai students understand from Mark 2 that Jesus can take away their sins"
Jo:
"Seeing that I have an 'easy' skill that can be used for the gospel & meeting some of the beautiful Thai students"
