6 DEC - 11:50AM - MARKETS
We spent an hour browsing around the markets. Pigs heads, bags of pork rind, buckets of swimming baby turtles, flapping fish, slices of dried duck and bunches of roses. The whole place had a raw agricultural feel. When I asked for a bag of dried cockroaches, the shopkeeper laughed and said, "sorry, only dried worms here."
Deb bought some bean-stuffed sticky rice in a stick of sugarcane. Jo and Jules munched pancakes.
